'Johnny Mac' is a unique jazz trumpet player based in Brooklyn. I 1st heard about him via a NYT article, then I photographed him for an exhibition. We have become friends.
JM deals with pain on a daily basis due to a medical condition but is the most positive guy I know and also funny as hell. His style is entirely his own. We discuss Charlie 'Bird' Parker, drug use, early influences {Louis Armstrong), and his experiences in the NY jazz scene in the 80's, playing with the likes of ART BLAKEY.
